If you have searched “Botox near me,” you have already met the most successful brand name in aesthetics. But Botox® is one product in a category — usually called wrinkle relaxers or neuromodulators — and knowing the difference makes you a better-informed patient.
Botox is a brand name
All wrinkle relaxers work on the same principle: they temporarily relax the small facial muscles whose repeated movement creases the skin — think frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. Botox® is simply the oldest and best-known brand. Others you may hear about include Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, and Daxxify®. They differ in formulation and in how providers dose them, which is one reason experienced injectors often have preferences for certain areas. Our own menu carries two of them — Xeomin® and Daxxify®; Botox®, Dysport® and Jeuveau® are named here to explain the category, not offered here.
What treatment is — and is not
A wrinkle-relaxer appointment is typically short, and most people return to their day afterward. The effect is temporary: movement gradually returns over a few months, which is why maintenance visits are part of the plan. What these treatments do not do is fill or add volume — that is a different category (dermal fillers), and it is common for a consultation to cover both so you understand which addresses your actual concern.
Questions worth asking at a consultation
- Who will perform my injections, and what is their licensure?
- Which product do you recommend for my concern, and why that one?
- What should I expect in the first week, and what aftercare matters?
- How will we decide the right dose for a natural result?
A good provider will welcome every one of these questions. If you feel rushed toward a syringe, that is information too.
The “natural look” conversation
The most common worry we hear is looking frozen. Dosing philosophy matters more than product choice here: conservative, movement-preserving dosing is a deliberate approach, and it is fair to say out loud that this is what you want. You can always do more at a follow-up; you cannot do less.
